I came to the ER with the bruise on my ribs, just to make sure that everything is ok as my PCP saw something on the X-Ray and recommended to have a CT scan. On a Friday night. First, the doctor wanted to have another X-ray done to add to the cost, after I refused, they put me on EKG machine (no chest pain, and the doctor knew about it), then did the lung CT scan... long story short I was sent home as everything was ok. Then we got the bill for $17,000. Nobody advised us about the costs involved, otherwise I would not have done it! They will add all unnecessary procedures possible to make you pay ridiculous price. If possible, avoid that hospital at all costs, unless, of course, you are on medicaid or have nothing to lose anyway.
